I write for brands,
with a special focus on voice, messaging, and shiny new names.

Hi, I’m Rachel—a freelance writer and verbal identity consultant with based in Brooklyn, NY. I have 7+ years of experience at agencies and in-house brands. In my past lives, I was a Verbal Design Director at R/GA, a copywriter at Thinx, and Verbal Identity Consultant at Interbrand.

(And even before that, I served cocktails at the greatest jazz club in the world. But we can talk more about that later.)

Here’s what we can work on together →

  • From websites to product packaging to those signs you see in the park about picking up after your pup, I’ve written it all. I can help you get started on copy based on your existing brand voice, or after we’ve established a fresh new brand voice & messaging system together.

  • It’s not just about what you say, but how you say it. I’ll take you through the exercise of establishing a brand voice that’s true to you—and set up guidelines to ensure that your future writer(s) can easily pick it up for whatever they’re writing next.

  • Your day-to-day messaging can shift as your brand evolves, but establishing your core messaging—how you articulate what you stand for, and what you’re bringing to the world—is key early on. I’ll help you develop this, ideally in tandem with your brand voice.

  • Whether you need someone to guide you through the full naming process (i.e., developing the brief, generating multiple rounds of names, desktopping, legal pre-screens, presentations, and beyond) or need an extra namer on your team, I’m experienced in developing names for brands big and small.

  • Great stuff doesn’t get written in isolation. If you need an editor, or someone to take a quick look through your existing guidelines for tips, I’m always happy to help.
